Echinocactus
Echinocactus is a genus of cacti in the subfamily Cactoideae. The name comes from the Ancient Greek word echînos, which means “spiny” and cactus. Echinocactus and Ferocactus are the two genera of barrel cactus. Members of the genus typically have heavy spines and relatively small flowers. The main difference between Echinocactus and Ferocactus is the densely woolly fruits.
