Mammillaria elongata is a small cactus that produces dense clusters of bright green, cylindrical stems. The stems are covered in short, conical tubercles that end in rounded, woolly areoles, which contain groups of yellow to golden-yellow spines. The number of spines varies, typically ranging from 14 to 25, and they are mostly recurved.
