Description

A rosette of plump and rounded foliage that grows to a tidy 10cm. The soft green leaves blush pink and red when under stress or in a good amount of sun, or the winter cold. Once they fill the pot they look like a gorgeous little pebble garden.

In ideal conditions offsets will form along the stem and from the base of the plant and will soon fill your pot. They will multiply faster if you don’t put them under stress, but then you do have to sacrifice the pink colouring for this, they do most of their growing in winter. In spring/summer narrow stems of little white stars may bloom.

Size: 5-10 cm x 5-10 cm

Bright, indirect light is ideal. In high light the foliage will change. Keep out of the hot afternoon sun lest their leaves be sunburned or roots damaged. The best foliage colour in lots of light.
Water needs: Low, water well, then allow the soil to almost dry out before watering again. Keeping them on the drier side will result in better colour. If they are bone dry the roots will wither and the foliage may brown and fall – these are cries of help.

These plants are so easy, they pretty much look after themselves. In pots ensure you choose a cactus/succulent potting mix for best results as it offers the sharp drainage they need. Choose a pot with drainage holes to ensure they don’t end up sitting in water.

Use a diluted, liquid fertiliser in spring to keep them happy and healthy – if you want them to be pink, you can hold off on the fertiliser, just repot them annually (so they get a little boost but not too much). They aren’t heavy feeders so will forgive you if you forget.
