Senecio

The genus Senecio is a diverse group of succulents of the daisy family (Asteraceae). With over 1,000 species, only around 100 of them are succulent. These plants bear striking daisy-like flowers in vibrant shades of yellow or red-orange, which dries into delicate dandelion-like tufts. Their leaves display a stunning array of colours, ranging from mesmerizing sky blue to various shades of green. Within the aster family, Senecio is part of a group that includes other succulent relatives such as Othonna. Additionally, the genus encompasses Caputia, Curio, and Kleinia. The name “Senecio” originates from the Latin word “senex,” meaning “old man.”
