Agave

The Agave genus is a diverse group of flowering plants in the family Asparagaceae. These plants are native to hot and arid regions of North America and Mexico. Most Agave species have succulent leaves with sharp marginal teeth and a very sharp terminal spine. The stout stem is typically very short, giving the plant a stemless appearance.
The rosettes of Agave plants are mostly monocarpic, meaning they flower, set seed, and then die. However, some species are polycarpic, meaning they can flower and set seed multiple times.
