Selenicereus

Selenicereus, also called moonlight cactus, is a genus of epiphytic (grow on other plants), lithophytic (on rocks), and terrestrial (in the ground) cactus found in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America. In 2017, the genus Hylocereus merged with Selenicereus. Several Selenicereus species produce edible fruit. The fruit is known as pitaya or pitahaya in Spanish and is commonly called dragon fruit. Dragon fruits can be gathered from the wild or cultivated from plants.
