Modern Research and Caution

The cactus’s strong antioxidant content (such as lutein and phenolic compounds) is the main focus of current scientific study into its possible health benefits. Research has demonstrated that extracts have significant antioxidant and non-toxic qualities in laboratory settings, indicating the possibility of their future application in functional foods or nutraceuticals.
